I base my approach to therapy on my core beliefs that we can all grow and change and that meaningful connection with others is of paramount importance to our capacity to thrive. The quality of the relationship you have with your therapist will most certainly determine the outcome of any therapy; it is a source of joy and satisfaction to me to be able to assist in this process, by developing a trusted, therapeutic relationship with my clients and by offering a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space in which the wished-for growth and change can take place.
As an Oxford University graduate, I embarked on a career in education. This led me to appreciate the importance of good mental health to help us flourish in all areas of our lives.
The foundation of my psychotherapy training was in Transactional Analysis, which provides a model for understanding the way we act, think and feel and investigating the potential for making new choices. I went on to train in Integrative Psychotherapy, which involves a variety of different models and theories and allows me to make use of a range of approaches in my work with adults and young people, according to their specific requirements, circumstances and preferences. Learning has always played a huge part in my life, and I feel privileged, to learn from every client I see.
Throughout my career, I have helped individuals and families navigate life’s challenges, repair relationships and heal from past experiences.
I am also a great believer in the value of
psycho-education, helping clients to understand their mental health and how to manage it well into the future.
With 15 years of experience of working therapeutically with both young people and adults, I bring a wealth of expertise to my work as a therapist. I have run the Counselling Service and Pupil Support Department for a leading independent school over this time and also established a Community Counselling Service, working principally with adults.
